See answers to some commonly asked questions about maintenance.
What happens if my maintenance plan expires? |
If you let your maintenance plan expire, you will still be able to use your perpetual licence. However, you will no longer receive maintenance benefits, such as access to the latest software, technical support and previous version rights.
After I trade in my seats on maintenance, will my subscription price increase? |
When you take advantage of maintenance trade-in offers, you will continue to renew with special discounted pricing – which is lower than maintenance renewal pricing and far below the cost of purchasing a new subscription. To provide clarity on the special renewal pricing, we have extended our pricing guidance to 2028.
For as long as you continue to renew, the special renewal suggested retail price will increase by no more than 5% in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027. There will be no change to the renewal suggested retail price in 2022, 2024, 2026 and 2028.2
Will I still have access to my files and data after I switch to subscription? |
Any files and data created using products on maintenance will still be available after you switch to a subscription.
If I move to subscription, does it mean my applications and data will be stored in the cloud? |
Desktop software applications on subscription, as well as associated user data, continue to be stored on your local machine. Cloud service applications run in the cloud; where you store your data, in the cloud or on your local machine, is up to you.
Will I need Internet access if I switch to subscription? |
With a subscription, you will need occasional Internet access so your subscription can be validated once every 30 days.
Can I still renew my maintenance plan? |
You can renew your maintenance plan until 6 May 2021, at which point we will fully retire maintenance and you will be unable to further renew. In addition, the price of maintenance renewals is increasing by 20% beginning 7 August 2020.
