Precision Equipments, established in 1981, has over two decades of experience in serving the Indian Oil and Gas Industries, Refineries, Fertilizer Industries, Power Plants, etc. The product range of the company falls mainly under three major categories: Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger, Pressure Vessels and Machined Components.

Results

By using Autodesk Inventor Series 8.0,  Precision Equipments makes every product to specific designs required by the client. They model the equipment using Inventor to generate the 2D drawing in a standard format which is being released to the company's shop floor fabrication requirements. With Inventor it is very easy and useful for the company to generate the 2D drawing from the dimension available in Excel format which is originally generated by the marketing department. The duplication aspect is eliminated by this. And also error free drawing is released.

As a result, the company improved the productivity significantly with reduction in errors.

Reseller Contribution

In addition to the company itself, KKM Soft, Precision Equipments' reseller, has also made an application customisation using Inventor and AutoCAD.

"In this, the Dimension details given in Excel file are used to calculate certain other parameters and using these parameters other dimensions are selected from Standard Tables. Using these dimensions and the Dimensions already available in the Excel file, Inventor updates the existing 3D Product Model to get the 3D Model for the new Product.

From this 3D Model, Inventor generates a 2D drawing and it is exported to AUTOCAD in a predetermined structure as given by us.

This automation process has helped us a lot. It minimizes the routine AUTOCAD work and it also minimizes the error probability since the Excel data has already been verified."
